Carter Maysilles

Carter is a barbershop brat from Lapeer, Michigan. Her mom Syd was a part of the Thumb Area chapter in Region 2 ever since Carter could remember, and barbershop was a huge part of her life growing up. In fact, she sang in her first quartet (well, it was her mom's quartet) at the age of three! In college you could find her singing in Western Michigan University's internationally known vocal jazz ensemble, "Gold Company," where she performed on stage with such jazz greats as Bobby McFerrin and Janis Siegel of Manhattan Transfer. After graduation, Carter sang for six years in an a cappella group called Voices of Liberty at Walt Disney World's EPCOT in Florida, where she started listening to barbershop again! In 1999 she convinced three friends to ring some chords, and...well...the rest is history.

Today Carter works for Sumter Electric Co-op in the Corporate Communications department. She primarily handles the internal communications with the employee Intranet (web design) and employee newsletter (print design). She also designs the SECO eNews, an email communications tool for member/customers of the co-op. Pictured above is "The Women of Carter's family."
